Deku universal?

My friend keeps saying and I’d completely convinced that Deku from MHA is universal due to gearshift. It’s the fact that gearshift apparently allows Deku to manipulate his mass and speed to any finite number at will. Due to that he’s saying that Deku would be considered universal. However yes that may be true but he wouldn’t survive it so idk. Thoughts on that?
