Can CPM increase over time?

This might be a stupid question but I just got monetized and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I know that CPM can grow and dip whenever especially depending on the month but can it just grow on its own? Like as I gain more popularity will my CPM tend to be higher or will it just stay around the same forever?
