Can i save my ps3 from being formatted ?

I booted up my ps3 slim and was greeted by a message saying "the file system on the system storage is corrupted and will be restored " but then at 11% it says "an error occured during the restore operation the system storage must be formatted " and i dont want to lose my saved data and games but i cant get my ps3 to work so please help me if you can
