Could this adversity fuel us to play better?

The other night we had our 3rd straight loss, a defensemen taken out for weeks, another defenseman taken to the hospital and seemingly out for months, and a star forward suspended half the season for gambling.

Overall we don’t look good, our best players have been disappointing, we’re caught up in league controversy, and half our D-core is already injured. We are in a really bad spot already, which isn’t what anyone wanted.

BUT

For some reason this team always performs the best when nobody expects anything from them. This team has always battled adversity well. People say the sky is falling and we’ve hit rock bottom, but the silver lining is that if you hit rock bottom you can only go up.

Am I right in this potentially misguided optimism or has my brain just fully turned to mush?
