Brother stamp machine

Our brother stamp machine has been down longer than I've been employed amd I'm trying to get it up and running again. The issue I'm running into is that it won't talk to the computer. Any guess how to fix it. Wires are fine I switched from the serial connection to a parallel and it's a new wire. It also won't connect with the serial connector either.
