Why are there so many porn subreddits

NO I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ACTUAL PORN SUBREDDITS LET ME MAKE THAT CLEAR

In talking about like the interest subreddits like why is it all porn like food porn, space porn, map porn, etc like is it some sort of inside joke I’m not getting? I’m really confused
