Why are there so many players in this system?

I was doing a mission from the nexus where it took me to a system with TONS of players and their bases and im just confused on why. Ive never seen another player or their base (besides my friend) outside of the space anomaly so it feels strange. Is it because of the misson or is this planet/system special?
