How Can I Use Shorts to Effectively Promote my Longer Videos?

That’s the question everyone wants the answer to, isn’t it?

I post narrative student short films on YouTube, which are hard to create and hard to promote. They take forever to write, organize, shoot, and edit, and then there’s the problem of trying to get people to watch a student film. I’m not really concerned about low viewership, and I’m not very interested in changing the type of content I make or following trends or anything…But why wouldn’t I want people to see my videos???

So I recently started uploading 15 second clips taken from my videos, “remixed” into YouTube Shorts. Several of the clips hit 2k views, and I quickly rose from 130 to 300 subs. This was super exciting, but I’ve hit a wall:

1) the clips haven’t been getting more than 100 views per video (I realize that this is a problem a lot of people are having right now)

2) I’ve ran out of good/recent/not too old and cringey clips to post, and it’s going to be a little while until I’m able to complete another “long” video.

Anyways, I feel stuck! I’m looking for ways I can promote my main videos while still staying in my niche. Any thoughts?
