Pt assessment advice

Hello, I am a new EMT, I’ve been in the field for about 3 months now. My biggest struggle is initiating pt contact and assessment. Once my partners get the ball rolling, I am confident in my patient interaction skills and ongoing assessment. What is the best advice you can give me? I appreciate all advice and am always excited to learn new things. What is the first thing you start with when you arrive on scene? How do you start your assessment from there?
