Did anyone else experience the let-down effect after leaving?
The let-down effect refers to the phenomenon where people experience physical symptoms or illnesses, such as migraines, colds, or fatigue, after a period of stress or high activity. Once the stressful period ends and the body begins to relax, the sudden shift in stress hormones can weaken the immune system, making the person more vulnerable to illness.
In the past year was some of our most turbulent times and I always felt stressed and on edge and my body was in a tense state
Weirdly enough I also noticed I didn’t really get sick at all during this time. Normally when I’m in a state of extreme stress I get sick often but I was fine during all the fights and sleepless nights and consecutive days of crying
I left a few days ago. I came to a new home. And I felt for the first time I could relax. And I finally got sick.
I take it as a good sign. That my body is trying to return to normal. So in some weird way even though I’m coughing and sneezing and my throat hurts like hell, I feel like it’s my body just finally feeling safe enough to let go :)
