Are self harm scars a red flag?

Mental health is a very frowned upon topic in our society. Those struggling with mental health issues are often considered deranged, like they're suffering from a disability that makes them less human or smthg.

Atleast that's what my mother tells me...

My mom thinks that if word got out that I had attempted suicide, then it would completely f up my chances in ever getting married. She says that nobody wants a mentally ill partner.

Back then, when I asked her to drive me to the er for overdosing, I ended up getting yelled at the entire way there. She said that no one will ever love me (if i survived) because I've now attempted suicide, which makes me "mentally ill" or wtv. She just kept going on and on about the shame that I have brought on to our family.

So I can only imagine how she'd react if she found out about my self harm. But I want to know what everyone else would think.

I have some very obvious self harm scars on my right thigh.

I am still young though, so hopefully by the time I grow up and get to marriage age the scars would fade a little more.

(TLDR:)

Would my self harm scars make me look like a mentally unstable person?

Do past mental health issues really affect how a person is viewed by society?

.

Would you marry someone with self harm scars? Would you marry a suicide survivor?

Please be brutally honest. I need to know.
