I truly did used to love this podcast because I thought they were great story-tellers and sometimes the banter was fun. Lately though, I feel like they’re getting more and more condescending towards us as the viewers. Speaking as someone who listens almost exclusively to true crime podcasts when I have the time, I don’t need 30 trigger warnings per EPISODE. One big, inclusive trigger warning at the top of the podcast would be more than enough, and you wouldn’t have to keep interrupting the story to tell it. Also, I’m here because I actively seeked out true crime. If you’re going to do a case about the worst time in someone’s life, the least you could do is include as many of the details as there are to find…we aren’t too sensitive to listen to the details of the case that we already know is morbid. And if someone is too sensitive for it, that’s what the trigger warnings are for, and they can listen to another episode or podcast. If it’s too much for the hosts to cover, maybe they shouldn’t be covering that case. If the hosts think it’s too difficult to read the Grace Budd letter, imagine what Grace’s parent felt having to read it? Like seriously, if you’re going to profit from the family tragedy, the VERY LEAST you could do is not hold back from the details because it’s “too much for you”. Nobody forced you to do the case, but if you’re gonna do it, do it right. I’m tired of hearing how much the hosts don’t like talking about certain things…then don’t talk about them!
