Help Please - Remeron

My mom has stage 4 cancer and suffered very bad depression and anxiety. She can’t stop ruminating about the past and overworrying. She started having suicidal thoughts.
She was prescribed Remeron and Xanax to calm her down. She was 7.5 for 5 days and upped to 15g now for another 5 days. Xanax 0.25g 3x a day and zoplicone for sleep.
It feels like she is getting worse and more depressed. She started having bad memory and forgetting what she has done and hate herself more for it.
- Will this get better when Remeron kicks in?
- How long before we see improvement?
- Does Remeron make it worse first before it gets better?
- How long before we give up on these drugs?
- The suicidal thoughts came after second night on Remeron. Doctor is not convinced it’s caused by it.
Feeling very helpless now. Please advise! Thank you all
