Learn to drive stick in a Miata?

Hey,

What are your opinions on getting a Miata first, then learning to drive stick in it afterwards?

I have a Corolla as a daily driver and I'm looking to buy a Miata for the first time, without knowing how to drive a manual. I have a few people who are willing to teach me if I end up getting a Miata, so I'm not worried there. I was wondering if anyone has gone this route or has thoughts about this method of getting in a fun car for the first time.
