What is the recovery like?

I am a 57-year-old woman who apparently has a meniscus tear. Dr. recommends arthroscopic surgery to go in and "clean it up." I am just wondering what the surgery and recovery are like. Will I be able to walk immediately afterward unassisted? Am I going to be on crutches? I miss being able to get out and walk the 2 miles a day I used to.
