Montypresso really does work!
Not affiliated with them at all, but I did a lot of research on darkening rosewood boards, and there was a lot of feedback, mixed on montypresso. I wanted to darken it, not blacken it, so didn’t want to go stain/india ink route. I figured I’d leave my experience for future people going down the same rabbit hole I did.
3 times now, I’ve gotten consistent results from montypresso, and I gotta say I love it. I’m thinking people bitching about it must’ve oiled their boards prior to. Mine was fresh from Warmoth, and got pretty damn dark! I did a 72 hour set on the montypresso.
Anyway, before and afters here. As you can see in the after, it’s not much lighter than the black pickguard, but can still tell it’s brown.
Cool shit man! Anyway, that’s all.
