Why meditation is so powerful

To anyone who doesn't want to meditate because they think "what is it supposed to do":

When I meditate, I get completely grounded in the present. It's like thoughts that are usually distracting just deflect off of you. I get calmer and completely focused on what I'm doing, with the mental flexibility to question what I'm doing. As soon as I just take in what I see and THEN add the extra criticality, I get a feeling that is similar to getting lucid. It's really only comparable to that and how it feels to take in the dream landscape, having uncovered it. Try it, it can help a lot if you do it regularly.
