My analysis on songbird

When I first played cyberpunk 2077: phantom liberty. I wasn’t a huge fan of her, and I made a post about it. Then I got fact checked hard by a fellow redditor and then I had to wait at least a minimum of a few days to really sit on the story and her character as a whole.

She is not a psycho bitch, as most people call her, that’s more so a title for Myers.

There seems to be a huge belief, that even I fell for, that So Mi is to blame for the massacre at the airport, her plan was to sneak in and go on a rocket without a hitch, but ultimately myers did found out that they were at that airport and did the most extreme measure possible and committed a fucking war crime. So Mi had no part in that, she didn’t know that myers would do something like that.

So mi is not an innocent victim, and guess what, neither is V you killed more people than songbird did in the pursuit of YOUR goal. You can criticize songbird all you want for the people she has killed, but you have to put that same mirror up to V.

Finally I want to touch on two more things, people complained how songbird is a bitch due to betraying V, but I think the reason why this is such a hot topic is because she betrayed YOU personally. If you were looking at this as a fly on the wall, you would probably think So Mi did what she had to do to survive. And she did. She got one of the most capable mercs around to help her per-Sue that goal, sure you could say that she should’ve been honest from the start. But what would be the point in that “hey, I need your help, I need to get this neural matrix thing that can cure my condition and yours…but it can only be used once.” Unless you are role playing a beacon of good V, you wouldn’t help her in your right mind.

Also a little side note. I think the tower ending is the perfect ending for this dlc.

You betrayed So Mi letting her to continue to be a weapon and subjecting her to a fate worse than death, and in return you get the neural matrix thing. So you using it getting put in a 2 year coma, losing Johnny, all of your friends, lovers, and most importantly, all of your cyberware that potentially made you the best merc in NC of all time getting stripped from you, and you can never use it ever again. This is the textbook definition of Karma. Song never got a chance of a happy ending, so why should you?

Overall I love songbird’s character. She is not an evil mastermind as everyone makes her out to be but a victim who is desperate for freedom.
