Is my employer allowed to share my sick leave balance without my approval?

Late last year I learned that my sick leave balance had been shared with all of upper management internally without my knowledge, and without upper management first contacting my line manager. No mention of wellbeing or support was mentioned - it was purely about lost profit for the company through individuals 'abusing the unspecified sick leave policy'. I have medical certificates and good reasons for my higher-than-usual sick leave balance and kept my line manager informed during my period of leave with no issues raised. When I finally found out, I raised my concerns, especially that this information would put a target on my back as we're currently going through multiple rounds of redundancies. Sure enough, I received a phone call today about being potentially made redundant. Was the sharing of my sick leave balance a breach of my privacy?
