Requirements for cleaning rental on termination of lease

Our rental agreement is coming to an end and we received the below checklist/info from the landlord.

I don’t anticipate any issues but I was wondering how much of this is actually required?

They’ve also sent through contact info for carpet cleaners but we won’t be hiring them as we are aware this is not required.

Cleaning Check-list for Vacating the Property This Check-list is to help you prepare for your final bond inspection.

Please fill it out as you go through and clean the property and leave it on the kitchen bench for final inspection.

Kitchen: ( ) Cook-top should be clean and free of boil over stains. Use a cook-top scraper to carefully remove burnt on food.

( ) Inside oven should be clean – free of any baked on food and oil – Use oven cleaner.

( ) Wipe and spray all walls and surfaces clean.

( ) Mop floor

( ) Fly marks on walls and ceilings should be wiped away.

( ) Cupboards and draws empty and wiped down.

Bathrooms: ( ) Clean shower (and or bath) – it is vital that shampoo and soap residue is removed from walls / glass.

( ) Clean silicon edges which generally gather black / pink mold if left unclean. Use a mold removing spray if need be.

( ) Remove shower strips and clean them and the glass door.

( ) Wipe and clean mould off ceilings and walls.

( ) Clean the vanity, benches and toilet.

( ) Scrub shower tray (inc all the corners and nooks and crannies)

( ) Clean shower traps thoroughly. Pull them out - remove all hair and clean all sludge off.

( ) Mop floor

General: ( ) Vacuum all carpets

( ) Dust / Wipe all edges of skirting boards and window sills

( ) Clean fly marks off walls and light fittings (use SUGAR SOAP, warm water, soft cloth)

( ) Spot clean any marks / smudges / grime from walls and ceilings (use a mild detergent, warm water, soft cloth)

Grounds: ( ) Mow grass

( ) Remove garden waste or lawn clippings

( ) Weed gardens

( ) Trim and hedges / bushes that require maintenance.

Damages: ( ) Tell property manager of any damages or issues with the property that will require attention before the house is re tenanted.

( ) Ensure all Light Bulbs are working

( ) Ensure ALL smoke alarms are installed and working.(not beeping constantly)

If you have damaged any areas of the property – we will need to get this fixed. If any of the above items are not completed we will need to have commercial cleaners come in and it will affect the amount of bond refunded to you.

Please take the time to ensure the house is presented at its best in order for your full bond to be quickly refunded.
