Please give advice for working during law school

I’m a recent uni graduate who was initially planning on attending law school in fall 2025. However, I retracted all my applications after realizing that I have no money and won’t be able to survive. I’m gonna reapply for fall 2026 (I’ll be 25😭) if I’m able to come up with a reasonable plan to support myself.

For reference, both my parents are disabled and have never worked, so they have no savings and no pensions. I will likely have to help my mom with rent (roughly $1000 per month) while in law school as well as pay for my own rent if I can’t get into the only school in my city. With my BA I can obtain part time position paying anywhere from $30-45/hr based on experience, and I currently make $32/ hr because I graduated recently in 2024.

I’m told over and over again by lawyers that it’s not realistic to work while in law school. And on top of that, apparently a lot of summer internships pay garbage. So I’m not sure what to do.

I need to be able to work a minimum of 25 hours a week just to feed myself and pay rent. I also really don’t want to go to law school part time because the idea of spending all of my 20s as a broke student with no social life isn’t appealing.

If anyone is managing work while in school please share some advice. I’d really appreciate it.
