laser hair removal is the single most painful thing i've ever endured. should i be concerned?

hi everybody. ive so far done about 5 full-face laser hair removal sessions with Premier Laser Soho and they've been horrifically painful - to the point where i had to cancel my last one. the last couple sessions i left the clinic fully crying.

im only starting to realise that this isnt normal? i applied skin-numbing cream last time to no avail. is there another measure i can take to prevent pain, is the clinic being too harsh, or am i just unlucky?

most describe the pain as 4/10 but its easily 8/10 for me
