Tommy’s line in the end about “we’re all running out of future” makes me think about this quote when he’s describing boomtowns. And I can’t help but think Tommy and Monty are the sharks/coyotes We already see the thieves as the cartel, but who are the desperate?

Another thing I love about Tommy is his ruthless, borderline nihilistic, pragmatism. He’s not interested in Rebecca’s morals or ethics. He lays it out flat for her, this is where we are, this is what we’re doing. Not cause we want it but because the world wants it. A similar conviction that if he were killed by the cartel, MTex would have him replaced in a minute. It’s all really great stuff and kinda cuts to the core of what oilmen are all about - it’s not time to think, it’s time to do.
