Advice wanted on hotels around U. of Tokyo and room/bed sizes for first time visit
Hi folks, my partner and I are traveling to Japan for the first time in April for a work meeting and are adding on a little bit of travel as a "reconnaissance" for future travels. The meeting is being held at the University of Tokyo campus in Bunkyo City and the plan is to do 2 days of Tokyo sightseeing before the meeting and then 2 days for a (very) brief look at Kyoto and then fly out of Osaka.
Since the meeting is likely to be 9am-5pm for a week, I would like to minimize daily travel so wasn't too keen on the normally recommended areas to stay for first-timers of Shinjuku, Shibuyu or Ginza - are there suitable hotels in an area close to the campus that would be a good base for sightseeing and the meeting. The other issue I've anecdotally heard could be an issue is the smaller room and bed size in Tokyo (understandable and relatable living in another area of very high cost of living..) as I'm 6ft 4in (1.93m) and prefer not to have to go into "shrimp mode" to fit into a bed... Are there particular hotel chains or brands that are better or worse in this regard. Thanks for any advice, looking forward to seeing a country, albeit briefly, that I've always wanted to visit.
