Just completed my first JRPG, Octopath Traveller 2, and it’s now my favorite game of all time. What do I play next?

I’ve always been a fan of RPGs and CRPGs specifically, like Baldur’s Gate and Pillars of Eternity. But I had never tried JRPGs because I’m not into anime and had the unfair assumption that the whole genre is just “anime” games.

However, I randomly saw the steam page for Octopath Traveller 2 and it looked sick. I’ve been in a major gaming slump for like months now, so I figured what the hell and started the game.

Oh boy did it consume me. I was hooked immediately. I loved the storytelling, the combat, the gorgeous world and phenomenal exploration. Every part of the game felt so rewarding and fun. I 100% the game purely because it was so much fun. After 300 hours (2 full play throughs) I can safely say it is my favorite game of all time.

And I’m dying for more like it! I was going to go ahead and pick up the first game, but aside from that I am veeeery ignorant on the genre. I was thinking maybe Final Fantasy games would be good, but idk if they have all the things I loved about Octopath Traveller 2.

My absolute favorite things about the game: the exploration (best part for me, especially when I got the ship), and the captivating stories (while some were far better than others, they all had awesome moments that I loved).

So, based on all that, what JRPGs should I play next? I ONLY play on PC, so I need games available on Steam.

I’m soooo excited to venture into the genre after an amazing introduction.
