2025 V2H?

I'm a happy owner of a 2022 SEL AWD. I wouldn't be in a hurry to trade in my vehicle except for the prospect of V2H for emergency use.

When Hurricane Helene hit and we lost power for over a week, I was able to run our fridge/freezer and some other basic devices by running extension cords off the V2L adapter but I'd far prefer a more robust solution that would allow us to do things like run a microwave and the blower for our natural gas heating system - only temporarily in the case of a power outage. The price of updating the vehicle (after incentives + tax credits) is comparable to an in-home battery system (after tax credits), with far more battery capacity in the car.

I know that this would take a bidirectional charger, once available, plus some additional wiring at the panel. I already have a 50 amp circuit running from where I park this car to the panel.

The other updates for the 2025 MY (larger battery, rear wiper, etc.) would be nice to have but wouldn't be enough to get me to make the jump. OTOH, the current offers in the market are tempting if the V2H capability is on the near horizon and given that the current tax credits may disappear.

I have looked but didn't find anything definitive mentioned on the Hyundai website regarding V2H on the Ioniq 5. It's listed as "coming soon" for the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Is there any word on V2H capability coming to US models of the new Ioniq 5? Would it work with my 2022? Or would it be 2025 only?
