About Shashi Tharoor’s work!

I read few of Shashi Tharoor’s books Pax Indica, Why I am a Hindu, etc. Though the books are knowledgeable, I never found his work as “literature”. Then someone told me to read his masterpiece The Great Indian Novel. Still I have same opinion about him.

The novel is basic and does not justify the hype. Am I alone in this?
