What is going on with my thyroid?
TW: Pregnancy
SOLVED: In case anyone comes across this later: My prenatals had too high of a dose of biotin, which was interfering with my TSH bloodwork. Once I switched prenatals and gave it a couple weeks my TSH bloodwork came back fine! So check your prenatals for biotin, folks.
Hi all, I'm 4+3 today, (just found out I was pregnant over the weekend after FET #2). As part of my beta testing, my doc also ordered TSH. I have been managing my thyroid levels with my naturopath and taking meds since January, but the #s on my latest bloodwork seem concerning, like I just somehow switched from an underactive thyroid to an overactive one? (Note: It's an "opposite" relationship = High #s mean low thyroid and low #s mean high thyroid.) Still trying to understand how thyroid works in pregnancy and what I should be concerned about (low vs high). And yes, I have messages out to both my fertility clinic and my naturopath to ask about this, just curious if anyone else has experience! Here is a history of my bloodwork and medication:
- January: TSH 2.24 / T4 free 1.1
- Started taking meds = synthroid, one 50mcg tab each morning
- March: TSH 0.35 / T4 free 1.4
- Slightly reduced meds = synthroid, one 50mcg tab each morning plus two days a week down to 1/2 tab
- May: TSH 0.81 / T4 free 1.2
- Positive pregnancy test
- July: TSH 0.01
