Visa status for IMG prelim applicant--can we switch the visa after one year of prelim?

Hello guys,

I was wondering if I could get some insight about my visa status before I submit my ranking order list.

I'm going for radiology and thankfully got some interviews from both prelim medicine and radiology. I wonder what happens if my prelim position offers J1 only, and advanced program offers H1b (or vice versa.) Can I go on the prelim visa status for only one year, either it be J1 or H1b, and switch to another type? Or should I put into consideration of the consistency of the offered visa option when I submit my primary and supplementary ranking order list?

Scared of being kicked out from the States before I finish my training due to this visa issue.
