Endocrinologist appointment and bloodwork?

How did you guys get an appointment with an endocrinologist? My pcp just tried to refer me because my blood sugars are getting into the mid 50s, low 60s at night, and the endocrinologist said they wouldn’t schedule me without “bloodwork that corresponds with diabetes” (how my drs office explained it to me). Is it just the endocrinologist they called? And what bloodwork do I need to make sure they do? They said they would run an A1c the next time I’m there but I’m sure there are other tests. So frustrated
