Can Angel still redeem himself?

So, as we know it in fact IS possible to go to heaven even if you've been to hell before, like by dying selflessly like sir pentious. But what I was thinking about is, can you only be redeemed if you still own your soul? Because in sir pentious' case he still had his soul in hell, but other characters like Angel, do not. Angel doesn't really have a soul anymore, at least he doesn't own it anymore because he sold it to Val. So question is, can a soul still go to heaven if they're owned by someone else? Because I can kinda see this being part of the plot for future seasons
