Any HENRYs that successfully changed careers in their 30s?

How did it go? I just hit 10 years in management consulting and, boy oh boy, am I ready to make a move. The golden handcuffs are real at the moment as my wife has taken an extra year off to look after my second wonderful boy, but there is a constant itch that in 1-2 years I want to make a move.

Problem is that my career journey has been sporadic and although I have become a strong generalist, my specialist skills are somewhat lacking (thanks consulting), bar some decent understanding of the pharma industry.

Looking for some motivation from people with kids that took the risk. What did you change from/to? How did it go? Was it worth it?
