Chania v Athens

Hello,

We are going to Greece for 6 days next year in August. We will be going to Crete and Athens over that time.

We will be arriving in Chania on Monday at noon.

We are a group of a few friends early 30’s

We can’t decide whether to leave to Athens on Thursday night or leave to Athens Friday early noon.

We would be leaving back to home Sunday morning.

Would a day and a half be enough to see Athens? Or would you recommend leaving Crete Thursday? Are there any opinions on Crete v Athens as far as things to do? Were not super into site seeing but would maybe see a couple things in Athens. We primarily just like good beaches and good food/casually drinking and relaxing.
