FL girl with AF husband getting stationed at Malmstrom AFB. HALP!

Currently joining all the AF Malmstrom communities on here, but want to get any and all info I can of the area/best places to stay while waiting on base housing (2-4 month wait list) so we are looking for a monthly furnished place. Housing allowance for the area isn’t super great, and noticing the rental market is kinda tough. Any areas we should absolutely stay away from? Our report by date is 7/30 so I’m so stoked for cooler weather.

Also any advice on what type of winter gear to invest in would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has any tips. No clue how to live in a cold/snowy climate—google has helped, but any advice/guidance from the community is desperately needed 💛
