How I use Gemini on a day-to-day basis

I get everyone's frustration with Gemini, so I thought I'd at least share how I use it in case anyone can find some value in the product. For the record, I have a subscription through Google One and so I have access to Gemini Advance.

I have an office job and am setting a start-up for myself at the same time. Here are the ways I use Gemini:

Office Job

  • I will upload larger documents that would take longer to read and have Gemini essentially give me the Cliff Notes for it. Helps reduce time taken to go over an entire document and it extracts the key points that I need to focus on.
  • I use the voice recorder app on my Pixel and record meetings from start to finish. I then take the transcription, place it on a document, upload that document to Gemini and tell it to create a meeting minutes document. It'll take every key point in the transcript and spit out a fully fledged meeting minutes document for me.
  • Through Google Docs or Google Sheets, I'll have Gemini create templates for me based on the type of document or spreadsheet I'm trying to create.

Start-up

For the past month or so, I have been chatting with Gemini to help me form my idea and to help me take it from an idea to a full business plan. While I don't take every word that Gemini says at face value, it does help me form my ideas and thoughts into actionable items.

  • I will ask Gemini to help me come up with names for the business based on the purpose of the business. It hasn't given me a solid name yet but what I like about it is I'll tell it to tell me if the names are marketable and what hte pros and cons are for each option
  • I will ask it for additional revenue streams that I haven't considered yet
  • I will ask it for data points that help validate my idea from reputable sources
  • I have asked it to help me create a business plan and tell me the elements of a financial model that I should include.
  • Because I have fed it so much information over the past month or so, I can essentially ask anything I want related to the start-up and it will give me a relevant answer.

There have been so many other ways I have used Gemini lately. One of my favorite things to do is to build on my chat about the start-up while I'm driving by using the voice function. It's like talking to a business advisor in a way. Again, I don't take everything it says at face value and no one should. Always look into the responses it gives you.

When it comes to work, you can call me a lazy employee or whatever but I believe in working smarter rather than harder and the ways I have been using Gemini lately has been a time saver in so many ways.

Maybe some of you have found ways to use Gemini to make things easier for yourselves on a day to day basis and I would love to try some new techniques out.

Just thought I'd share how I use Gemini. Hope it helps someone!

tl;dr (from Gemini): I use Gemini to summarize documents, generate meeting minutes, create document and spreadsheet templates, brainstorm business ideas, and help with my start-up. It's a major time-saver.
