Is my daughter’s back swing too much? Varsity golf coach told her not to get so far back. She’s 12years old and has had 14 lessons over the span of 2 years.
Her inspiration for her swing is John Daly. After watching tons of videos from different golfers, for some reason she fell in love with his swing and decided last year she wanted to get further back to gain more power. I suck at golf so I couldn’t say no. Especially when she drives them right down the middle of the fairway. I’m just here to support and encourage her on the course. Not give swing advice. Especially since my is atrocious.
I am trying to pick it up with her. I’m watching golf on TV along with tons of YouTube videos and ear hustling during her lessons. We played 18 holes this weekend and she shot a 45 on the front 9 and 37 on the back. I haven’t broke 100 yet.
She’s had 14 lessons over the course of 2 years. Her instructor hasn’t mentioned anything about her backswing and says she’s doing great. She made her high school varsity team and her coach is telling her not to go so far back in her swing. She hits the fairways nearly every time and consistently drives the ball 170-190. When I tell her to hit as hard as she possibly can, she can get around 210-220 yds total.
