Gallstones! What fun!
So in a super fun new development, I just found out today that I have gallstones. The recommendation from the gen. surgery team is that I follow a low fat diet, which cuts the absolute crap out of what I can eat right now. We were investigating cholestasis because I had it last time, so I was making sure that I was keeping a lookout early. Bile acids are fine-ish atm, but LFT was wonky and then rabbit hole...
I feel like trying to manage the GDM has at least accelerated this - I've never eaten so much cheese or nuts or eggs in my damn life. I just felt like I was getting a handle on having to have snacks etc.I'm 29 weeks, so 10 to go and I'm staring down the barrel of I guess... even more salads?
Is there anyone here who has been in the same boat? What did you make for your family dinner while you were eating your sad girl salad and chicken? (I don't really eat seafood either so that's leaving chicken as a primary protein source now I guess.)
What can you eat that won't spike you, but also fits the bill of low-fat? Just truckloads of fibre?I guess cottage cheese has been promoted to 'lead' in this tragic tale of woe, kicking almonds out of the spotlight...?
I'll be flagging it with the dietitian on Monday, but I figured I'd do some investigating first.
