Did anyone else’s family do birthday spankings? One for each year.

AND a PINCH to grow an inch! I mention this to other people and they think I was abused as a child and suppressed the abuse. They weren’t “real” spankings, kind of a birthday joke that was funny. And the pinch on the butt wasn’t meant to hurt either, it was just funny. Was this a culture thing brought over from the “old country”?
