Need opinions on my setup! Did i make the right decision?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to get your thoughts on a decision I made recently. I currently have a desktop with the following specs:
- RTX 3070
- i7 10700K
- 32GB RAM
- SSD + NVMe
However, I was gifted a laptop for work that has these specs:
- RTX 4080
- i9 13900
- 32GB RAM
- SSD + NVMe
To take advantage of the laptop's power, I bought an Anker dockstation and essentially turned it into my new desktop. My reasoning is that the laptop should be significantly more powerful than my desktop due to its newer hardware.
However, I’ve heard that laptop GPUs and CPUs are often much more limited compared to their desktop counterparts. For example, a laptop RTX 3070 performs far worse than a desktop RTX 3070.
So, in this specific case, do you think I made the right call by switching to the laptop as my primary machine? I'd love to hear your insights!
