If Subaru/Toyota is to announce a third gen in a couple of years, what powerplant would you prefer?
Hi all, I know it’s not very likely and if it is than maybe only options 3 and 4 but in case we do get a third gen of the twins, what powerplant would you prefer?
The NA option will certainly be the least powerful, let’s say they squeeze an extra 20-25 HP out of the boxer engine at most, but it will keep the car’s character intact while keeping the weight at check. On the other hand the car will not feel as “fast” as any of the other options.
Turbo/Supercharged - still many enthusiasts choice, car will be considerably more powerful and “torqy” and weight wouldn’t increase considerably but terms like turbo lag and non linear engine response will enter the twins lexicon.
Hybrid - get the NA still but with more torque and power. Will add weight and complexity.
Electric - most powerful, but basically contradicts everything the twins stands for lol. But who knows maybe some fantasize about this. Unfortunately the most likely option going into the future.
So what about you, how do you prefer the third gen to look like?
