Please Welcome This Bloviating D-Bag (May Have Cookies 🤔)
Hey all. Yooka here. My A/S/L (remember that? You'd think that'd be used more often online these days) is 45/M/NYC Metro Area. Been playing since a week before Fortnite implemented seasons. In life, I am the most easy going guy you've ever met. In Fortnite, due to how immature the player base has gotten in the last two or three years (yes, I know it's Fortnite, I know it's a lot of kids, it's always been a lot of kids.... really wasn't that bad in the first four years), I can be a bit high strung and competitive. Which is funny because I rarely play ranked or competitive.
That's not to say I insist on leading. I believe one has to ebb, flow and adapt in this world, and this game too. Be like water, right? But the whole reason I am here, as you can tell from the name, is that a lot of the player base really plays mindlessly now, and that ruins it for me. I don't mind losing to a better team. But if we lose because we are goofing off, or are disorganized or unprepared... after a while (I don't rush to judgment), I'll ghost ya.
I like tactics. I don't need everyone to be mic'd, but if no mic, I need a squaddie to ding danger. Or type chat, I freakin love that they added it. My first online FPS was Team Fortress One. On Quake 1. Circa 1997. I know text chat can work in this kind of game. I liked the official TF2, but map size, and limited mobility made most maps push-fests. Tactical thinking started to creep out the window for ease of play. Communication is great, but in lieu of that, demonstrating solid awareness is crucial.
I have a mic, and people love my voice. I sound professional. I get asked regularly if I am a streamer. I've done quite a bit of call center work. There, people would ask me daily if I do voice acting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I kinda wish I got into streaming or content creation back when I was unemployed 15 years ago. I have a good sense of humor, but I like to see a squad can handle jokes and get back on the clock before I let my hair down.
I typically play weekend mornings anytime from 7AM-11AM EST (noon-4 GMT). If you see me online at other times, I may not be able to use the mic or stay on for long, due to working from home, and having a girlfriend-wife who.... ah... likes things a certain way.
I prefer to keep topics apolitical. I'm a PC, mouse n keyboard guy. I prefer Zero Builds (standard BR), but I can be flexible. I strongly prefer squads, even with fills. I don't have any strong dislikes (aside from spending all my time in a session in builds), but even creative modes are pretty fun. I love talking to international players, and I love female gamers. I am taken though, and I have no interest in getting personal or flirtatious or improper. I'm huge into The Golden Rule.
Lastly, my net handle.

I do have strong beliefs on drop areas. I am not going to insist anyone do anything. You do you. And I will, with the right people, drop either on a medallion, or the first stop on the path. But people need to see that scene in The Hunger Games. Everyone goes for the good loot at the start, only the high skill players make it out alive, with a ton of kills. Everyone else, back to lobby. I'm not particularly lucky, or a good shot. But I'm smart. I don't consider myself very skilled. I am proud of my # of squad wins. A lot more wins than players a lot more skilled, or with a lot more time on their hands. And I believe the longer a match goes, the less it favors the fortunate, and the more it favors the intelligent. So I prefer drops a little far from the path of the busy usually. And I prefer if people have to branch off to find loot, they be very mobile, and constantly checking/educated guessing what their squadmates are doing.
Thanks for reading. Like I said, Fortnite, much like the way the world seems headed, kinda gets me uptight at first, but I promise, that's just at first. Be well. 🖖
