My allergies always ruin celebrations and I hate it.
Sorry this is a rant but,
I HATE having allergies and all these intolerances because simple gestures become nightmares.
I just accomplished something big and have family and friends in town and they want to celebrate by taking me out for dinner but I have to chose the restaurant, but I could care less and I don't have any places to recommend because I can't eat out but they refuse to be the ones to chose a place.
I'm lactose intolerant, I have severe pollen food syndrome (OAS) so no raw fruits or veggies (can't even trust cooked at this point), no tree nuts, I also have GERD so no fried or acidic foods. Anything I eat will have to be stripped down to the bare bones so I don't feel comfortable choosing any nice restaurants where something is going to cost $30 when I'm going to have to remove everything until its worth $8.
I try to explain this to people and all it does is make them upset because they just want to do a nice gesture and im making it difficult. Like as much as I understand and appreciate it, I don't want it! I can't have it and it makes me feel shitty as is, I hate eating out and its also not safe. I just wish people would accept that I'd rather go to the grocery store and buy my shitty $5 oatmeal and celebrate that way rather than grand gestures, like chose what you want and I will eat later!
