38M need help should I continue with trainer?
I need all the suggestions I could take.
I am 38M 71 kgs as of today. I have always been lean but covid got me on the bad side of food habits and I quickly rose to 90 kgs.
I went for intermittent fasting and brought by weight to 65 kgs. But as a downside I was skinny fat.
Finally, two years ago I decided to join a gym. The main goal was body recomposition. My fat content was still quite high and I wanted to get rid of the belly fat and surrounding areas.
As this was my first time at the gym, I engaged a trainer. Now my gym subscription is coming to an end in 2 days and the gym is asking what's my decision. The trainer surely wants me to pay and continue with his services but I am really not sure.
I don't think the trainer has helped as much as I had hoped he would. My main goals remains unfulfilled and as a matter of fact I am now heavier at 71 kgs. I know I have added muscle and I can lift decent weight versus 1 year ago but my goals haven't been met.
My goal was to cut down from 25 percent body fat to maybe 15. I wanted to look fitter. But i honestly don't think I do. Yes, there's some shape to my body which is better than before but my weight is higher and body fat is intact.
I am very demotivated and seriously considering leaving the gym. But i know this is a long process but 2 years isn't a small time.
I am thinking now since I know the machines and exercises, I can save a ton of money by not renewing personal training.
I need your help and suggestions.
PS: I do calorie count daily and don't eat more than 1600 calories a day, I take at least 120 gm of protein a day including a scoop of whey a day. Yes, there are cheat days but none to derail me from my goals to such a level.
I cannot believe that I am ending the years 5 years higher and zero fat loss.
