Can I back out?

Hi I put in an offer which was accepted on my first house and I’ve come to realize it’s not everything I wanted. It’s in a suburb which I don’t like not far from the city but also has way higher taxes. Would have been much happier two blocks south.

I did sign the contract but haven’t put down earnest money yet. It’s only two days. I’m in New York State. I don’t know what the law is. Should I just go with the motions at this point?

The house is also more expensive than my rent for a words location. Of course I could never afford anything where I live now. I guess I’ll never know the answer. I just want to know when it’s officially out of my control.
