I want to know what Epic fantasy series you've read and your rating of them

I've been looking for a new epic fantasy series to read so I thought I'd ask here to see what people have read and what you thought of the series. I'm really interested in why you've rated a series as well!

In particular I'm looking for series that are:

  • More than(>) 3 books in the main series. I'm not looking for connected trilogies or a trilogy and standalones.
  • More than(>) 3 major PoV characters per book. I'm more flexible on this if it's the first book of the series or a major PoV character is sitting out a book but are prominent in other books.

Series I've read

  • Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan 10/10 - My favourite fantasy series. I love the characters, I love the world and I really enjoy Jordan's writing style. I understand the issues people have with the series but it just works for me.
  • Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson 7/10 - I've read the first three books and I'm not sure I plan on continuing. I really enjoyed The Way of Kings and mostly liked Words of Radiance but by Oathbringer Kaladin was the only character I was still interested in and even he was getting boring. If you are interested in big worlds with tight plotting and strong world building I'd recommend though - there is a reason Sanderson is one of the most popular fantasy authors around.
  • Sword of Shadows by J V Jones 8/10 - Really enjoyed this series and I liked all the characters. Eagerly awaiting book 5 that hopefully is coming this year. I'd recommend for fans of more grimdark series.
  • Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin 9/10 - One of the greatest fantasy series of all time. Not much more to say other than even unfinished I think that its still worth reading - A Storm of Swords is a 10/10 one of the best fantasy books of all time imo. Its rating is dragged down a bit by the exploding number of PoV characters that I became less and less interested in and by not having an ending.
  • Malazan by Steven Eriksson 8/10 DNF - Feels weird to rate a series I DNF'd as an 8/10 but I did read and enjoy 7 books of the series. It's just that during Toll the Hounds I realised I just didn't care anymore about the characters which meant that none of the events really mattered to me.
  • Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind DNF - DNF'd about a third of the way into the first book. Ignoring all my other issues with it it's just not particularly well written. Kept thinking about why I wasn't just re-reading the Wheel of Time.

Series I'm thinking about

  • War of Light and Shadow by Janny Wurts - This is currently my pick to read and peoples opinions seem quite high.
  • Lightbringer by Brent Weeks - I've heard that the ending is very controversial and people felt let down which puts me off. I had similar thoughts about the Night Angel trilogy which leads me to not really want to start.
  • The Demon Cycle by Peter V. Brett - I've not heard much about this series - I don't even know if it meets my 3 major PoV requirement. Curious as to peoples thoughts.

Appreciate any recs!
