Unfair AFK ban

I joined the server in last 30 seconds after I heard sound reminder and all I saw people leaving. When I checked website I saw that l'm ,AFK" (didn't join in time) and got banned for 2 hours from playing. How this could have happened? And what should I do to shorten the ban?
