I currently have a living trust, advanced medical directive, durable power of attorney etc. But I need help convincing my friend to do the same thing.(I know she probably won’t change her mind, but if she hears stories from others, she might.)

My friend is in her 50s and lives in California. She is married to a man in his 50s. Her husband owns their home with his mother. They have a significant assets due to the mother-in-law‘s wealth. My friend has an adult daughter and her husband has two adult children. She keeps saying we’ll just deal with all of this after his mom dies. They do not have a will or a trust or anything. Obviously, you cannot change someone’s mind, but if I can hear a few horror stories about people who died or their spouse died without a will or a trust maybe I can convince her to get a trust. Yesterday I gave her the scenario about what if both she and her husband die and her daughter has to make decisions without an advanced medical directive? I said are you going to put your child or children through that? Anyway, stories may be helpful.
