New Equinox EV Sound vs Old Equinox Sound

My fiancée and I are considering a new Equinox EV but the one thing that keeps coming up is the sound system. Pretty much every post/article I see rates the sound system as horrid.

As a current Model 3 driver, I'm a bit spoiled. But my fiancée currently drives a 2019 Equinox and while her sound system isn't coming close to mine, it's fine. But all of these articles have me a little worried, how bad is the new EV system and is it comparable to one of the older Equinox models?

I know the logical thing to do is test drive one, which is the next step, we're doing that next month around purchasing time. Just figured I'd check in with the community here first to see if anyone has firsthand experience with older Equinox audio and newer.
