Ithaca Saga Question

I've never read or studied the Odyssey so Epic is all I know. I remember seeing an animatic months ago of The Challenge and Odysseus was in the crowd while Penelope was singing and if I remember correctly he actually completed the challenge while disguised and that's how his identity was revealed but I don't see how that happens in the Ithaca saga. I'm a very "literal" listener and since I'm not familiar with what happens other than what Jorge wrote I can't imagine anything happening between lyrics and songs. I can't find the animatic now so if anyone knows what I'm talking about or wants to break down the original text for me I'd appreciate it!
