Taking out loans for rent - bad idea?
Hope this is the right sub. I'm a second year ee student at a community college. I'll be transferring to a university next fall. I've been working full time throughout school up until this semester to pay for living expenses and tuition, now I've dropped to 20 hrs a week.
It's been super unmanageable even when only taking 3 classes. I have no time for anything and I'm nearing burnout.
I'll be taking out loans for school in the next year, so far I've been paying for classes out of pocket. But I'm considering loans for rent too (it's around $820 per month with utilities)
I've been super anti-loan forever but Ive talked to some people getting/who have gotten the same degree and they say if you are proactive in getting internships/a job post grad, you'll be fine. It'd be an additional $40k in loans I'd have to get. I'm expecting ill need between $25-30k for my last 3 years of school as well putting me between $65-$70k.
Bad idea? Anyone have any thoughts?
Edit: I'm unable to move back home so I'm stuck renting unfortunately
